Helen Rae Rants! is a place for middle-aged moaning minnies to let off steam. I’ll be using it to write about things I love, things I loathe, the ‘good old days’, a writer’s life and anything else that takes my fancy. It may (I hope) make you laugh and nod your head wryly. Or it may offend you – because I’m an opinionated old bat and I’ll be getting polemical!
It’s a brand-new blog and I’m brand-new to blogging, so please bear with me while I build it and learn how to make it more user-friendly and better-looking. And forgive me for shamelessly plugging my own books on it… I’m one of the breed reviled by the traditional publishing establishment, a (gasp shock horror) self-publishing author – and I need all the publicity I can get!

I very much enjoyed your blog, Helen Rae Rants. I am working on a book-blog of my own, which can be seen at [one word] theoryofirony.com, then clicking on either the “sample chapter” or “blog” buttons at the top. My Rube Goldberg brain asks with an odd, well-caffeinated kind of logic: Why is there an inverse proportion between the size of the print and the importance of the message? Literature. Art. Science. Military. Religion. I call this eccentric thinking the Theory of Irony and if your busy schedule permits, give a read, leave a comment or create a link. In any event, best of luck with your own endeavors.
